WHAT’S A BLENDED COURSE?

A blended course allows participants the opportunity to complete the theory component of a course online prior to attending one of our facilities for a half-day face-to-face practical session.

WHAT’S AN ONLINE COURSE?

An online course allows participants the opportunity to study at their own pace and in their own time.

WHAT ARE PREREQUISITES?

Prerequisites are units of competency that are critical to achieving subsequent competency.  They vary based on the course offering. Please consult the course outline for specific prerequisite information.  It is imperative that you review the course information and determine if you hold the prerequisites before enrolling to ensure successful enrolment.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ONLINE AND A VIRTUAL COURSE?

An online course is self-paced, allowing participants to complete their learning in their own time, at their own speed.

A virtual course, on the other hand, is delivered live in real time by one of our experienced trainers via video conference. Participants log in at scheduled times, interact with their trainer and classmates, and complete activities just as they would in a face-to-face classroom—only online.

WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FACE-TO-FACE AND VIRTUAL CLASSROOM DELIVERY?

Choosing the right delivery format comes down to a few key factors.

While both our face-to-face and virtual classroom options are led by experienced trainers and assessors—it’s important to consider your individual learning preferences when deciding which mode is right for you. Ask yourself:

  • Can I easily get to a Pinnacle Safety and Training location?
  • Do I prefer learning on a computer or using paper-based materials?
  • Am I more comfortable in a physical classroom or an online environment?

When considering our Virtual Classroom option, it's important to make sure you have the right setup to get the most out of the experience. Ask yourself the following:

  • Do you have a modern laptop or desktop computer?
  • Are you able to attend from a quiet, distraction-free space?
  • Do you have a headset or headphones with a microphone that work with your computer?
  • Does your computer have a functional webcam?
  • Do you have a reliable, high-speed internet connection that can support video streaming?

If you answered “no” to any of these questions, we recommend attending one of our face-to-face sessions instead to ensure you have the best learning experience.

Participants who elect to undertake their training via Virtual Classroom must agree to all terms and conditions pertaining to this mode of delivery

DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE TO ENROL?

This varies depending on the course. Please check the ‘Prerequisite Information’ contained on the relevant course page.

WHEN SHOULD I RECEIVE MY CERTIFICATE?

Short courses: Your certificate will be emailed to you within 24 hours of completing your course.

Qualifications: Congratulations on completing your qualification! As there’s a bit more administration involved, your certificate will be provided within 14 business days.

DO I NEED TO BE IN AUSTRALIA TO COMPLETE A COURSE?

No, you don’t need to be in Australia. Many of our courses, including online and virtual options, can be completed from anywhere in the world. Please note that many of our courses require you to provide us with your Unique Student Identifier provided by the Australian Government. Read more about obtaining your USI here.

HOW MANY ASSESSMENT ATTEMPTS DO I GET?

Participants will be given up to three (3) attempts at any one assessment item.

Your trainer/assessor will mark ‘Satisfactory’ (S), ‘Requires Further Training’ (RFT), or Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS) to indicate the assessment decision.

Where ‘RFT’ or ‘NYS’ is indicated you will receive further training/coaching before re-assessment occurs. Only those assessment items that were completed incorrectly are required to be re-assessed. If you are deemed to have not satisfactorily met the assessment requirements after the first attempt, you are able to work with your trainer/assessor and then permitted further attempts.

If after the third attempt, participants are still deemed to have not satisfactorily met the assessment requirements, a re-evaluation will take place that will include a discussion with an independent assessor (i.e. not the assessor who conducted the assessment) including a review of the assessment outcome.

WHAT LEVEL OF FITNESS SHOULD I HAVE?

Our training is realistic and very physical. It is essential that all personnel who attend this course are willing and capable of moving about at height (ascending and descending ropes) on towers and other high structures. If you do not possess the fitness/strength to climb towers and other structures under your own strength, you will be unable to demonstrate competence required for this program.
